Matt Wilde

Played Sonny (Grease 1990)

Matt Wilde is the Course Leader of the MFA Acting & MA Directing courses at LAMDA and is an award winning Theatre & Film Director.

In his current position, he directs and teaches across a range of LAMDA’s acting programmes. Public productions directed include King Charles III, The Tempest, Tristan & Yseult and the Graduating Actors Showcase.

Matt has worked professionally as an Actor and Director nationally and internationally.

He has directed at some of the UK’s leading theatres including the Royal Court London, National Theatre London, Almeida, Old Vic, Soho, Unicorn Theatre, Liverpool Everyman, Edinburgh Traverse and for leading companies including National Theatre, KSF, Out of Joint, Actors Touring Company, Old Vic New Voices, Middle Eastern Theatre Academy and Splendid Productions.

His work has taken him to NYC: Broadway, UAE, Europe, Brazil and Mexico. Matt is also a former Associate Director of the National Theatre Studio and Out of Joint Theatre Company.

Matt studied and trained as an actor and director at Bretton Hall: University of Leeds, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and on programmes with the Arts Council of England.

He has and continues to be involved in developing and producing new work with writers from a variety of venues, programmes and communities.

He has worked on new work with writers including Roy Williams, Sabrina Mahfouz, Greg Burke, Hassan Abdulrazzak, David Hare and Adam Rapp.

Education and actor training is at the core of his endeavours and he has worked extensively in the UK’s leading Drama Schools and institutions including LAMDA, LIPA, RADA, Rose Bruford and Goldsmiths University.

Most recently he created and was the Course Leader for the MA Acting (Company) Course at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA).

Matt’s debut feature film Kicking Off won BEST UK FEATURE FILM at London’s Raindance Film Festival in 2015 and BEST PRODUCTION & BEST UK FEATURE FILM at Oxford International Film Festival 2016 and toured international film festivals.

Jeanette Healey (nee Crowley)

Played Sandy (Grease 1990)

Being in SONG was one of best experiences ever! After dabbling successfully as a semi-professional singer with my twin sister in the girl duo, ‘Gemini’, I continued singing, dancing and performing at College in Cheltenham. I returned to Southport as choreographer for ‘A Handful of SONG’ in 1996.

Performances since then include Aladdin, Jesus Christ Superstar and Little Shop of Horrors at the SDC, with my final role as Polly in SAOS's Crazy for You coming in March 1999, whilst being pregnant with my daughter!

For the last 18 years, I have worked in Primary Education, where - through my love of Performing Arts - I have helped countless children to enjoy the experiences of being on stage. I have choreographed, directed and musically directed many productions including Bugsy Malone, The Wizard of Oz and Grease, and staged end of year productions at the Atkinson with colleagues.

My latest adventures have been as choral teacher and choreographer for the Burscough Methodist Players in their Pantomimes Aladdin and Robin Hood. Who knows what will come next?

Claire Kelly

Played Rizzo (Grease 1990, and her mum Frieda Kelly Choreographed)

Claire Kelly went on to do a diploma in musical theatre, tv work and a diploma in piano, and be a GCSE languages teacher.

Following that, after having 5 sons Claire built up her piano teaching into a business which is now Southport Piano & Music Academy- a large music school - Southport Piano Academy, with 22 staff running music, with over 15 instruments taught, including drama, beatboxing and dance lessons.

Claire is about to publish a music course for children. Claire encourages all the student to play in public and hosts charity shows twice a year which have so far raised 14K.

Claire also is a local writer for Southport News site, Q local, reviewing plays, restaurants and local events. She runs a ladies group with 1000 members and a singles group of 700 members in Southport.

Alison Moyna (nee Crowther)

Played Marti (Grease 1990)

Alison had a successful career as a West End Performer after graduating from Mountview Academy in London in 1996.

Appearing in numerous productions including 'Les Miserables', 'Fame', 'Martin Guerre', 'The Royal Variety Performance', 'The Laurence Olivier Awards', 'A Midsummer Nights Dream', 'Where's Charley', 'Loves Labours Lost', 'The Woman in Black', 'Girls Night Out', 'The Pirates of Penzance', 'A Handful of Keys', 'Tess of the D'urbervilles', & 'Les Miserables in Concert'.

She also performed in front of HRH Queen Elizabeth II and HRH King Charles III.

Alison still performs Nationwide as a Professional Singer at Special Events, Weddings, Charity Evenings & Galas, Corporate Events, Hotels, Restaurants & Cocktail Bars.

Without many happy years in SONG none of this would have been possible They truly were The Best of Times

Alastair Lee played Doody

Played Doody (Grease 1990)

He has appeared in the Joseph tour, Whistle Down the Wind West End, Jesus Christ Super Star National Tour European Tour and King Rat in Buxton Panto.

Matt Harrop

Played Roger (Grease 1990)

His parents Sue Harrop & David Harrop were also members of Song, Chairman & treasurer respectively.

Matt was in S.O.N.G. from the age of 9.

After going to the Guildford School of Acting in 1994 he started working as an actor, mostly in musicals including Les Miserables, Cats, Chess, Me and my Girl and The Rocky Horror Show.

He is currently playing Msr Firmin in The Phantom of the Opera in the West End.

Stephen Torsi

Played Danny (Grease 1990)

After playing Danny, Stephen studied Musical Theatre at Arts Ed. and had a brief and unsuccessful career on stage.

This led him to travel the world and several careers before discovering a passion for social change work.

The skills he learnt in the theatre have been invaluable in his work on big issues like climate change and inequality. He now lives in Australia with his family.

He still loves to perform given the opportunity and can see the creative spark in his daughter.

Katie Shepherd

Played Patty Simcox (Grease 1990)

After performing in song for 10 years, I gained a place at London Studio Centre on the Musical Theatre course.

I graduated and spent 12 months in the National Tour of "HAIR". Since returning back to Southport I have been lucky enough to tour as a backing singer with the "Legends of the Sixties" Band and danced with the "Dream girls".

Once my children were born, I decided to teach, I taught at Edge Hill University on the Musical Theatre Course. I then qualified as a "Ballet fit" teacher and opened my own Musical Theatre school, "Magic Movers" in 2019.

I love teaching children the art of singing, dance and drama and help give them the confidence to achieve their goals.

Tom Burroughs

Played Teen Angel (Grease 1990)

After flying in as the Teen Angel in SONG’s production of “Grease” in 1990 aged just 11 (!), Tom went on to study Performing Arts at Southport College and then attended the 3 Year Acting Degree at London’s prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

After graduating Tom has worked regularly in Theatre, TV and Film in the UK including the first National Tour of The 39 Steps, roles in Coronation St and Emmerdale and most recently returned to Southport as Abanazer in LHKs production of “Aladdin” at The Atkinson.

Tom wishes everyone a fabulous and successful run in this year’s production of “Grease”

Mark Cunningham

Played Kenickie (Grease 1990)

Since Song's last production of Grease in 1990, Mark studied for his degree and went to live in London where he met his now wife Lyn.

In 2002 they both founded Anthony James Estate Agents in Southport were Mark is the company surveyor as well as dealing, legal cases and property consultancy.

Mark is also a trustee for Southport hugely successful Community Link Foundation and over the years have contributed significantly to local charity.

Mark is thrilled his daughter Grace is now following in his footsteps into SONG and in particular Grease The Musical! “Grace is a super talented singer and dancer, so a significant improvement from my SONG years!

I am really looking forward to see “Greased Lightening!” My only SONG solo!”
